Unit IT's acquisition of solvo it marks the physical entry into Eastern Denmark for the rapidly growing IT company. The addition of solvo it further adds to Unit IT's toolbox of competencies within cloud infrastructure and Microsoft technologies.
The final signature in Unit IT's acquisition of the Ballerup company solvo it is done and marks the beginning for Unit IT’s expansion into Eastern Denmark. With solvo it’s more than 20 years of industry experience and a broadly established customer portfolio, Unit IT’s acquisition is part of an important strategic investment towards a broader and more local physical presence around Denmark, where solvo it will function as Unit IT’s beachhead in the greater Copenhagen area. Unit IT is part of the international group United Shipping & Trading Company (USTC) with headquarters in Middelfart.
"This agreement underpins our ambition to cover and operate nationally within Denmark. With the addition of strong competencies and customers from solvo it, we’ll get a well-established and robust unit east of the Great Belt, which is a vital supplement to our organic growth journey,"Mark Frihagen, CEO of Unit IT.
At solvo it, the acquisition provides an opportunity to keep its strong company culture among the employees, while at the same time bolstering for further expansion, which Unit IT paves the way for.
“We are dedicated experts and have many years of experience in our field, but it’s clear that the market for IT companies is subject to consolidation, continuously making it more difficult for smaller, independent players to assert themselves,” says Flemming Larsen, CEO of solvo it, and continues:
“When we have chosen to let our life's work merge with Unit IT, it is because we have a strong belief that we, as part of a bigger entity, can leverage our synergies and create room to double down and become even more specialized in our competencies. At the same time, we’ll be able to create even more value for our customers”.
Strengthening in-demand competencies
With the acquisition, Unit IT will grow the number of experienced in-house Microsoft consultants. In addition, the direct access to a wide range of competencies via external consultants will add great scalability in future deliveries, Mark Frihagen says:
“With solvo it we are getting a well-oiled team of strong consultants and new colleagues at a high level of skill and experience. At the same time, we will be able to add senior leaders to our team that will be able to maintain the culture and team spirit that also characterizes Unit IT. All of which is something that ultimately enables us to further strengthen our business, especially in the eastern part of Denmark and Greater Copenhagen, and thus letting us remain relevant to both customers and employees.”
Corporate chemistry and employee culture, which at Unit IT is referred to as the “wingman culture”, are very much at the top of mind of both companies and are significant reasons why it’s such a good match between the parties.
solvo it has been on a strong journey where the bottom line in the latest accounts has been raised by 22 percent to almost six million DKK compared to the year before. All employees in solvo it will continue under Unit IT.
Wall-to-wall infrastructure and deep specialist competencies are the way forward
A clear trend is for companies to outsource and move IT operations out of the house. This tendency places increasingly high demands on the ability of IT companies to quickly understand the core narrative and business procedures of client companies, what their needs are and how they’re developing.
Bridging the gap from client companies to the it-professionals is just one of the ways, Unit IT and solvo it are very closely aligned in their methods. Also, on the performance and competence front, the two companies are an obvious match. Unit IT delivers platform-independent (private and / or public cloud) infrastructure solutions, which are always based around ensuring customers a stable and secure operating experience that can be scaled, changed, or moved over time. In addition, Unit IT houses several specialized units within BI, Data Platform and Cyber Security. Similarly, solvo it brings strong experience from a wide range of Microsoft services, in particular Public Cloud and Azure.
“It will be a significant strengthening that will both broaden and deepen our potential deliveries in specific areas. We will have even deeper specialist competencies within Cloud,” says Mark Frihagen.
In the acquisition solvo it brings a strong customer portfolio, with some of its largest current customers being KMD and the Danish Department of Prisons and Probation, which are expected to follow into the new ownership structure.
The price of the deal will not be disclosed.
