The history of CM Biomass
Heritage from two family-owned businesses
CM Biomass was founded in 2009 as part of Copenhagen Merchants Group and quickly established itself as a leader in the global biomass market. In 2021, USTC acquired a 60% majority stake, marking our formal entry into the renewable energy sector through a strategic, long-term partnership.
In 2023, USTC increased the ownership to 89% reflecting growing alignment and a shared vision for the CM Biomass’ future. The remaining shares are held by members of the founding family and senior executives, ensuring leadership continuity and operational focus.
Today, CM Biomass operates as an independent entity within the USTC Group, contributing to our broader commitment to energy, logistics, and responsibility.
