Job Description
Join CM Biomass and turn complex data challenges into impactful solutions that accelerate the green transition in the global biomass market.
About the team
Become part of our international data team in Copenhagen. We are a small team of 3-4 people, each with end-to-end responsibility - from understanding the business problem to building and operating the solution. We work in an open, collaborative environment where there is plenty of dialogue and room for having fun, and we expect the same from you.
We stay close to the latest developments in data and AI and are not afraid to test new approaches when they create value. You will collaborate across the organization - from traders to executive leadership – to deliver solutions that improve efficiency and enable real innovation, helping us optimize the company in the transition toward sustainable energy.
Build solutions and unlock business value
Over the past years, we have built a fully cloud-based platform on Azure, with nearly all data workloads running in Microsoft Fabric as part of our carve-out from a legacy on-prem setup. The platform has matured alongside the organization, and we are now ready for the next step: using data and AI to solve real business problems - not building chatbots no one needs.
We already apply AI/ML to automate document flows (OCR), analyse satellite imagery, aggregate market signals, and monitor competitor activity. Your role is to turn ideas into reliable, scalable solutions that enhance performance, streamline processes, support trading insights, and detect anomalies before they become real issues.
Your responsibilities include:
- Develop and maintain data pipelines and ML workflows in azure and on our Fabric platform.
- Build applied AI solutions that solve commercial and operational problems.
- Move prototypes to production with short time-to-value while maintaining data quality and scalability.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to identify and prioritize high-value opportunities.
- Work pragmatically across BI, data engineering, and applied AI - using the best tools for each challenge.
Empowering innovation through data
“Here, you will work pragmatically across classical BI, data engineering, and applied AI. We use whatever solves the problem best - AI when it creates real value, simple pipelines when that is the smarter choice. The outcome matters more than the tool.
If you are motivated by turning real business problems into solutions that actually make it into production, you will have the chance to make a tangible impact - and have a lot of fun in the process,“ says August Godballe, Head of Data & AI, CM Biomass
Skilled and adaptable within data & applied AI
The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with modern data engineering, cloud technologies, and applied AI - and enjoys creating solutions that make a measurable impact. Industry experience is a plus, but curiosity and fast learning matter just as much.
Preferably, you have:
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in data science, computer science, engineering, or similar
- 2–3 years of experience in data engineering and applied AI (ML, computer vision, automation, etc.)
- Strong SQL skills and proficiency in at least one programming language
- Experience with cloud platforms (Fabric, Azure, Databricks, or similar)
- Ability to deliver end-to-end solutions.
- Professional proficiency in English
Join the Journey
If this sounds like the right fit, we encourage you to apply promptly. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, and interviews are expected to take place in January.
