Job Description
Are you ready to play a key role in keeping the financial engine running for one of the world's leading marine fuel companies?
We are looking for a detail-oriented and engaged Accountant to join our Bunker Holding Americas team in Houston, Texas. In this role, you will be at the heart of our financial operations, ensuring accuracy and alignment across accounting systems while supporting critical business decisions in a fast-paced, international environment.
About Bunker Holding
Bunker Holding is a major player in purchasing, selling, and supplying marine fuel and lube oil, as well as providing risk management and other vital services for the shipping industry. Operating via more than 1,660 ports worldwide, the company is present in 32 countries with 62 offices and more than 1,500 skilled employees. With a long history and a forward-looking mindset, Bunker Holding remains committed to answering the needs and challenges of an ever-changing industry — combining robust financial health with a culture built on professionalism, reliability, and an informal tone.
The Team
You will join an experienced finance team of 6 colleagues based at our Houston, Texas office, where collaboration and a collaborative team spirit are at the core of daily work. You will report directly to the Finance Manager of Bunker Holding Americas and interact daily with your on-site finance colleagues. Your primary stakeholders will be the Mexican business operations, as you will play a vital role in ensuring alignment between the accounting systems in Mexico and the United States. As part of the broader Bunker Holding Americas setup, your team contributes directly to the financial integrity and effective execution of the group’s activities across the Americas region.
A Cross-Border Accounting Role at the Heart of the Americas Operations
As an Accountant for Bunker Holdings Mexican entity, you will serve as a critical link between the accounting systems in Mexico and the United States, ensuring financial accuracy and consistency across both entities. You will support the business in making well-informed financial decisions by collecting, tracking, and correcting financial data on an ongoing basis. Your day-to-day responsibilities will span a broad range of accounting tasks — from bank reconciliations and invoicing to currency management and the preparation of supporting documentation for advisors in Mexico. In this role, you will also be responsible for financial audits and ensuring that all financial records remain accurate and compliant throughout the year.
More specifically, your responsibilities include:
- Bank reconciliation and system reconciliations, ensuring financial records are accurate and aligned across both the Mexican and US accounting systems.
- Invoicing and payment management, including scheduling payments, creating payment complements, invoicing sales orders, and managing currency deals and rate updates.
- Supporting the Mexican business operations, including requesting purchase orders from clients and creating supporting documentation for advisors in Mexico.
A Structured and Bilingual Finance Professional with a Solution-Oriented Mindset
As a person, you are highly organized, detail-oriented, and take pride in delivering accurate and high-quality work. You collaborate well with others and contribute positively to team efforts, while also being capable of working independently and upholding the highest standards of accuracy and efficiency. You bring a pragmatic and actively involved approach to your work, and you thrive in an international workplace that moves quickly and where no two days are exactly alike. You navigate complex cross-border financial tasks with confidence and communicate clearly with stakeholders at all levels. Additionally, you have the following qualifications:
- You hold a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
- You have a minimum of 4 to 5 years of experience in a finance or accounting role, and experience from the oil and gas industry is considered an advantage.
- You have a solid understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) as well as cost accounting and reporting.
- You are proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, with advanced Excel skills; working knowledge of an ERP system such as Dynamics is considered a plus.
- You are fluent in both written and spoken English and Spanish.
What We Offer
When joining Bunker Holding Americas, you will get the opportunity to grow professionally in a supportive and international environment that values precision, collaboration, and long-term development.
