Data Platform, Integration & Ingestion Lead

We are looking for an experienced Data Platform, Integration & Ingestion Lead to take a central role in shaping and managing Bunker Holding’s new Unified Data Platform.

This is a strategic and execution-focused role where you will be responsible for ensuring that our data platform is not only technically sound, but also accessible, scalable, and aligned with business needs. You will play a key role in defining how data is ingested, governed, and consumed across the organization.

The platform is built as a hybrid setup leveraging technologies such as Databricks and Microsoft Fabric, with infrastructure defined as code using Terraform.

Your responsibilities

You will be responsible for establishing and owning the ingestion and integration capabilities of our Unified Data Platform, balancing central control with scalable self-service.

Your role includes, among others:

• Acting as the technical and functional lead for data ingestion and integration across the platform
• Leading a team of external engineers as an integrated part of the platform team, with full ownership of direction, prioritization, and delivery
• Establishing and maturing a central ingestion capability responsible for onboarding critical data assets with high quality, reliability, and governance
• Defining and implementing data ingestion standards, patterns, and guidelines such as batch, streaming, APIs, and event-based ingestion
• Enabling the right level of self-service, allowing domain teams to onboard non-critical data safely and efficiently within defined guardrails
• Implementing modern AI-supported tooling, including agent-based ingestion patterns and tools such as MCP, to simplify and scale data onboarding
• Defining and enforcing data quality, lineage, and governance principles in collaboration with architecture and security
• Working closely with platform engineers to ensure the ingestion layer is robust, scalable, and automated using CI/CD, IaC, and observability
• Collaborating with business stakeholders to understand data needs and translate them into platform capabilities and priorities
• Contributing to the data platform operating model, including ownership boundaries, support structures, and ways of working
• Ensuring that security, compliance, and access control are embedded in how data is ingested and exposed

In practice, this is a role where you combine platform thinking, technical leadership, and execution. You will define how data enters the organization and ensures it happens in a scalable, governed, and future-proof way. 

Your profile

You are an experienced data professional with a clear sense of ownership and motivation for building platforms that others can rely on and build upon.

You are comfortable leading without formal people management and know how to create direction, motivation, and accountability in teams where not everyone reports directly to you.

We expect that you will bring:

• Solid experience with modern data platforms and data engineering practices
• Thorough understanding of data ingestion patterns such as ETL, ELT, streaming, APIs, and event-driven architectures
• Experience working with platforms such as Databricks, Microsoft Fabric, or similar ecosystems
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code, preferably using Terraform
• A solid understanding of data governance, data quality, and data lifecycle management
• Experience enabling self-service data platforms in larger organizations
• Experience working with external partners or distributed teams as an integrated part of delivery
• Familiarity with emerging AI-assisted development and automation patterns such as agents or copilots
• The ability to guide through influence, clarity, and trust rather than formal authority
• Effective communication skills and the ability to bridge business and technology

It is an advantage if you also have:

• Experience working with hybrid data platforms
• Experience defining or working within a data mesh or domain-oriented data setup
• Experience with DevOps or DataOps practices and platform engineering
