Execution Analyst - CM Biomass Houston

Introduction

Are you ready to play a pivotal role in the physical execution of biomass supply chains that power a greener future? Join CM Biomass in Houston as an Execution Analyst, where precision, collaboration, and a passion for sustainability come together to make a real impact. If you thrive in a fast-paced, international environment and enjoy working across trading, operations, and logistics teams, then this could be the perfect opportunity for you.

Company Overview

CM Biomass is the world's largest trader of wood pellets and a top 5 producer, employing more than 245 dedicated professionals across 13 countries and trading annually around 3.6 million tons of wood pellets and agricultural residues, all striving to decarbonize power and heat production. Our mission is to provide sustainable power and heat solutions while significantly reducing greenhouse gas emissions, placing us at the forefront of the transition to cleaner energy sources. CM Biomass is part of the family-owned United Shipping & Trading Company (USTC), which is represented in 40 countries through the group's activities within fuel and energy, shipping and logistics, risk management, car activities, IT, and sustainable energy, giving this position an exciting international reach.

The Team

You will join a team of six colleagues based in downtown Houston, working closely with our teams in Denmark and across the broader USTC group. In this role, you will collaborate cross-functionally with trading, operations, logistics, and commercial teams to ensure the seamless execution of biomass supply and trading activities. Your key stakeholders will include internal trading and commercial colleagues, as well as external counterparties such as carriers, vessel agents, and freight providers. Together, the team provides operational rigor and execution discipline that directly supports CM Biomass's position as a global leader in the renewable energy market, contributing to our mission of enabling sustainable power and heat production worldwide.

Detail-Driven Execution Analyst Powering Sustainable Supply Chains

As an Execution Analyst at CM Biomass, you will manage the end-to-end execution of physical wood pellet trade contracts, from post-deal confirmation through final delivery and settlement. You will coordinate shipment scheduling across plant operations, logistics providers, port operators, and vessel agents, while preparing and managing the full range of trade documentation for both bulk and containerized export cargoes. In this hands-on operational role, you will serve as the primary point of contact for counterparties, surveyors, and freight providers, ensuring that every contractual obligation is met accurately and on time. You will also maintain trade and position data within our Dycotrade commodity trading module in Dynamics 365 F&O, contributing directly to the operational success of a global market leader.

More specifically, your responsibilities include:

  • Managing the end-to-end execution of physical wood pellet trade contracts, coordinating shipment scheduling, vessel and cargo nominations, and delivery against contractual laycan windows and terms.
  • Preparing, reviewing, and managing all trade documentation for domestic and export shipments, including bills of lading, certificates of origin, phytosanitary certificates, VGM declarations, and commercial invoices, ensuring full compliance with U.S. export control and destination country requirements.
  • Serving as the primary operational point of contact for counterparties, vessel operators, port agents, and freight forwarders, while entering and reconciling trade and position data in Dycotrade within Dynamics 365 F&O.

Detail-Oriented Professional with Strong Stakeholder Skills

As a person, you are detail-oriented, structured, and highly skilled at stakeholder management. You thrive in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment where accuracy and responsiveness are essential, and you take ownership of your work with a proactive and solution-focused mindset. You are a confident and professional communicator, comfortable corresponding with counterparties, carriers, and internal teams, and you bring an analytical approach to tracking positions, monitoring exposures, and interpreting execution performance data. Additionally, you have the following qualifications:

  • You hold a bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, International Trade, Finance, Economics, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • You have a minimum of 2 to 5 years of experience in trade execution, commodity operations, freight coordination, or a related role within a physical commodities trading, shipping, or export-oriented business.
  • You have familiarity with bulk cargo shipping documentation, bill of lading processes, and export trade compliance requirements, and ideally experience managing containerized shipment operations such as FCL bookings, VGM declarations, and demurrage/detention tracking.
  • You are proficient in Microsoft 365 with advanced Excel skills for shipment tracking, demurrage calculations, and execution reporting; familiarity with Dycotrade, CTRM platforms, or Dynamics 365 F&O is a significant advantage.
  • You are fluent in both written and spoken English and able to work flexible hours when required to manage time-sensitive execution activities and international counterparty communications.
