Job Description
We are looking for a dedicated Ship Agent to join our office in Bergen on a permanent basis. This is an exciting opportunity for a shipping professional who thrives in a hands-on, dynamic environment with daily interaction with customers, suppliers, local and national authorities, and international partners. You will gain in-depth exposure to the cruise and yacht industry, while further developing your professional shipping knowledge in a long-term role.
MAIN TASKS
The role involves a wide range of operational responsibilities related to the coordination, handling, and clearance of ship calls. Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Coordinating ship arrivals, port calls, and departures
- Liaising with authorities such as Police, Customs, and Port Authorities
- Arranging services such as fresh water, waste handling, and other port services
- Being present on-board vessels, at the pier, and in the office
- Maintaining close contact with customers and suppliers
- Contributing to customer service, operational efficiency, and business development
WORKLOAD
As cruise ships may operate outside normal business hours and throughout the week, flexibility is required. Work outside standard office hours and overtime should be expected as part of the role.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
- Previous working experience in shipping, cruise or maritime operations is required
- Strong problem-solving skills, also in hectic and time-critical situations
- Ability to work independently with both operational and administrative tasks
- Proactive, efficient, and willing to take responsibility
- Solution-oriented with a strong service-minded attitude
- Comfortable communicating with a wide range of stakeholders
- Ability to remain calm under pressure
- Legal right to live and work in Norway
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office tools, especially Excel
- Excellent communication skills in English, both written and spoken
